As far as luggage handling is concerned, Schiphol's reputation has been poor for years. They failed to anticipate the growth in pax numbers over the last decade or so, and have been struggling to expand their luggage handling facilities to meet demand. In spite of the respite afforded by 9/11, they have been implementing one temporary ad hoc solution after the other, with satellite facilities sprouting like mushrooms all over the place.
