This was my first and probably last flight on United. I'm a dedicated Skyteam traveler and I didn't experience anything on this trip that would lead me to change to Star Alliance. I will acknowledge, however, that MP is a much more generous program than OnePass or WorldPerks. Enjoy the ride.
Since it was a 40k mile award, it also should have been an E+ seat... which, in my opinion, is quite a bit nicer than what's offered elsewhere.

As a side-note, I wouldn't broadcast too openly about any "trades" for award tickets. That's not allowed by the airlines, and it's also frowned upon by the moderators here.

But I dunno... this is the UA forum and all... I still have a problem with someone believing that it's more pleasant to fly NW than UA. Old rickety DC10s and 757s with as little as 30" seat pitch...
