I am trying to make sense of the internal US flight rules on the South Pacific variant of this fare..

I am looking to change my itin to :

SYD-SFO-PHX (stop)-DEN (stop)-DFW(stop)-PVD(stop)-TPA(stop)-IAD-MUC

So my questions:

do I have too many stopovers? =5 ..i am confused as to whether gateways are included or not..

is my outbound TPA-MUC ok (even if it is going back north? as neither UA nor EK fly direct Florida to Europe? and it is just a connection?)
