I was flying home from SFO to EWR through IAD on a business class (40K) award ticket. Due to mechanical problems, the 7:50am departure became a 9:30am departure and I missed my 5pm UAX connection at IAD by a few minutes. There was no space available on the 8:10pm IAD-EWR and I was required to take the 9:35pm flight. This 4 1/2 hour "layover" at IAD made me lose out on my comfortable car ride home and required me to use public transportation which brought me home at 1am. I requested compensation at the Customer Service desk when rebooking and my request was denied.
Should I follow up in writing ? Is there a CS25 or two in my future? Thanks.
