Yes. That is assumed. However, it would not be akin to CO buying into a new family of jets. My point was they already have the structure in place to maintain and service the 737-700ERs brother.

But they do not. The plane sits there because CO thinks in doing so it can generate the most revenue through offering the service and schedule people want and are willing to pay for. The point being that while a plane sitting on the ground may not be the most ideal in terms of equipment utilization, it can still be profitable.
