Why people fly other airlines

for nearly 48 hours, i have been looking at fares chs-sfo. us' cheapest roundtrip fare is $1122 (not a typo) before taxes.

at first, i thought i may have checked in the middle of a fares update/upload, when some fares had been deleted but new ones not yet posted.

then i convinced myself that it was an unfortunate weekend glitch, and that certainly when the "regulars" showed up monday morning they'd straighten things out.

but nope, this appears to be the fare they expect me to buy for leisure (or any) travel. when you search with flexible dates (the same maneuver i attempted on usairways.com), travelocity lists twenty-two less expensive roundtrip fares on competitor airlines before the first us airways fare.

lcc, eh? only where they have to be.
