I wonder about status too. My daughter and 3 month old granddaughter were flying Corpus-DFW-Chicago-Albany last month and to help out for this long flight, I booked the same flight to DFW with a 3 hour layover so I could help get them to the Chicago flight before flying myself to Austin.

At the last minute, our flight out of Corpus was cancelled (bird damaged engine!) and AA lit up all our phones calling both me, Kara, and the granddaughter to rebook us. I hit the phone first and the agent politely assured me that I had been rebooked on the next flight out of Corpus which would still connect me with my original flight to Austin. (with a 1 hour layover)

However, Kara and granddaughter had to take a later flight to ORD since they wouldn't have enough time to connect. I explained our situtation and asked if I could be rebooked on a later Austin flight... so that our original idea would work.

YES, it was all done.. even though AA didn't really have to change me too.

I was really impressed with the service - not only how fast they contacted us about the flight cancellation (be sure AA has good contact info for you!), but how nice they were about rebooking us to accommodate our needs.

I'm PLAT and that might have made a difference but somehow I doubt it.

Kudos for AA!
