I have created what I think is a great trip. Below is my upcoming Itenerary for our first year anniversary. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have the Hotels and Planes iteneraries, just need to fill in the train parts and missing pieces.
Here it goes...
Paris:
Day1 (Sunday): Arrive early morning into CDG (Paris) from EWR. Adjust to time zone. Stay at Prince de Galles Starwood Hotel for entire stay in Paris.
Day 2(Monday): Explore City - Dinner at Eiffle Tower
Day 3(Tuesday): Explore City - Walk by river & picnic lunch.
Day 4(Wednesday): Explore City - relax in cafe's explore not so obvious places in Paris.
Day 5(Thursday): Explore City - Wrap up Paris Part
Rome:
Day 6(Friday): Morning Flight to Rome from Paris - Explore City, Spend evening at St Regis or Westin (can't decide)
Day 7(Saturday): Explore City - Wrap up Rome Part
Rome in a day and a half? Don't be silly....
Florence:
Day 8(Sunday): Train to Tuscany (Florence). Check in at Westin or Grand Hotel and explore city (can't decide)
Day 9(Monday): Explore City (Tuscany country side and Capri on next trip)
The same as I wrote for Rome, plus towns like Siena or San Gimignano are far more "seeable" in the few seconds you've set aside for Florence....
Nice:
Day 10(Tuesday): Train ride to Nice, France through Pisa. May stop in Pisa for 3 hours to take taxi to leaning Tower, if its worth it. Would consider a stay along the route to Nice, Portofino, etc. Arrive Nice, France Late Night. Stay at Le Merridean Nice.
Day 11(Wednesday): Relax and think about our trip over a nice mojito on the beach.
A. There ain't no beach.
b. Ordering a Mojito in Nice is like unto ordering a Kir Royale at Key West.
Day 12(Thursday): Day trip & Dinner in Monoco.
Day 13(Friday): Last Day before we leave, take in Nice and relax some more in the Sun.
Day 14(Saturday): Early flight back to EWR from NCE
Just leave Italy for next time (for its obviously Paris and the Riviera in which you're interested). Train or plane, Pais to Nice, rent a car and drive the length of the strip with side trip ot some quaint inland destination.
My only questions are the following:
1) How long does it take to get to Nice from Florence by train?
Check
www.trenitalia.com
2) Is it worth a 3 hour stop in Pisa for the tower?
No
3) Would a stop between Florence and Nice be required because of long train ride?
No
4) How to get cheapest flight to Rome from Paris
Don't take onne at all....
We will redem miles for BF on Continental and use Starwood Points for all Hotels. Thus leaving the expenses to only misc items (Food, touring, memories, etc).
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
What you're proposing even for young marrieds, is a "If it's Tuesday It Must Be Belgium!", a bad old movie about a bad trip....
