I definitely would!

Having just moved to ATL from NoVa (IAD home airport), I find myself connecting either through IAD, ORD, or DEN anytime I want to go anywhere. I recently took a trip to MEX and flew through DEN, and would've been disappointed had I not received the extra 1200 miles or whatever it is from here to DEN, and just been credited with the mileage from ATL-MEX. Any BIS miles should count towards EQM, IMHO. However; I do see your point wimpy.
