With Christmas one must consider the day of the week that it falls on to anticipate a bump. Last year Christmas fell on a Sunday so the holiday-traveling public split their trips between Friday and Saturday. This gave the airlines two full days to oversell and BOY did DL oversell. I made out like a bandit because I had to fly both on Friday AND Saturday.
However, in 2004, Christmas fell on a Friday so the big overselling day was Thursday alone. None of my collegues who, like me, look for bumps made out that year
