Meals remain complimentary in first class for all flights over two hours that occur during regular mealtimes. Complimentary meals also will continue to be provided to coach class passengers on flights to the West Coast originating from Minneapolis/St. Paul, Detroit, and Memphis, Tenn., as well as on the daily flight from Milwaukee to Los Angeles International Airport.

I think that serving meals during meal times and a snack basket at 9 pm is reasonable. I fly the red eye from the West Coast quite often and don't get nor expect breakfast. The flight is from 12:30 am to about 7:30 am LAX-DTW. I prefer to sleep and it fits the current (ie. Nov. 2003) policy.
Much can and has changed in a few years...
