Looks like AC has the best of both worlds now. Although CO and others are offering the nonstop ex-USA, the feed from that country was never enough to truly justify the nonstop. So this interim Zurich service gives AC advantages of channeling loads from YOW/YUL on SWISS equipment and onto its own into DEL, and feeding YYZ and west customers onto SWISS's BOM flight. Combining both carriers really has created a positive synergy for both carriers and better access to both India's major cities. However, I suppose it does make upgrading more difficult across the Atlantic given the demand for J/C on that leg.
This would explain why both segments, YYZ-ZUR, and ZUR-DEL, are much harder to upgrade.
