Mise en Place is a good restuarant, used to be one of my favorites but having eaten there lots of times over the past say 10 years the menu seems to havent changed overall ( though they do rotate items in)
If staying downtown location is great you can walk from the Sheration or the new Embassy Suites.

Hands down the best restuarant in Tampa is SideBerns a block (north) away from Berns ( which IMHO - dare I say it? is overated, good steaks - yes, boring menu)
SideBerns is a partnership with Berns but features a great chef, eclectic menu, little expensive (for Tampa) yes. Access to the same Berns wine
cellars.

Other choices might be Seven 17 on Howard, one block north of Berns/SideBerns of Restaurant BT a few blocks east of the same area.
BT menu is a fusion of French-Asian.
