TA luggage, weight & bag count, scale worked

Well, I said I would report back on how my new scale purchase worked for me. I purchased a Shimano scale that I found was a fishing scale that was available at a lower price that Magellan's.

It worked a treat! It held the weight mark after lifting the bag so there was no struggling to read it as you were lifting. It's a bit bigger than I expected, about a foot long, but is mostly aluminum so it's not very heavy. One of my bags was very close to the 50lb limit and there was no problem at check in. Well worth the bag room I think.

Unfortunately I had to exercise my *Gold ability to check a 3rd bag due to this new weight limit which is a royal pain in the nether regions. I was very surprised when the Envoy check in agent challenged my 3rd bag. I was on a Coach ticket, but was able to upgrade via SA to Envoy at check in (I think coach may have been oversold). She asked if I had counted on the upgrade when I brought 3 bags. I told her of the *Gold benefit and she had never heard of it. I had printed out the web page for just that situation, shame we have to do silly things like that. She was grudgingly nice about it, and as I had an upgrade I wasn't saying boo!
