I guess people are really happy to be back home and that's how they show it. On what other airlines/routes do the vast majority of passengers applaud during landing?

On a side-note, as the 757 was hovering over the runway during the landing in MDE on Saturday, the rousing applause started just a bit early and was replaced by gasps as the plane landed joltingly hard onto the runway. You can always tell the rookies from the pros.
