You say you can't make the outbound on your SFO-LAX-SFO ticket, but you do not elaborate further. Are you going to start from somewhere other than SFO, or perhaps drive between SFO or LAX, so you really will only have use for a o.w. LAX-SFO? Or is the problem that you can't use the originally scheduled outbound SFO-LAX? If it is that last of those, that you will fly SFO-LAX, just not at the time you locked into, then will you be going later the same day? If it is later in the same day, then if you advise them you want to try standby on a subsequent flight, you can take your chances and perhaps lose no money. If not the same day, though, it will cost you at least $100 to preserve any value from what you have already paid.
