I've been known to bring soap (lifted by myself from another hotel) to lower-end hotels. Particularly when I know they have liquid soap rather than a bar (I really don't like that stuff...)

The Hermes 'Eau d'Orange Verte' soap supplied at certain rooms in the Le Meridien chain is a particular favourite (especially as the plastic container is ideal for travelling...)
