I did this trip from Bangkok to Singapore in August 2005. It really is a great experience. The service, food and atmosphere is really First Class. I was warned prior to taking the trip that sleeping can be somewhat challenging due to the movement of the train, however, took a sleeping pill and had no problem at all!
