Shocking security breach at CPT and then again the following day at LHR!
Last weekend my girlfriend and I flew CPT-LHR on BA then the following day LHR-IAD on UA both flights. On both flights it seemed security lapsed pretty badly!
At CPT there was a dreadful power cut affecting the whole Western Cape, the airport was in chaos and I was thankful to get to my seat on the aircraft. During boarding one of the FAs came up to me and asked to see my boarding pass. I got it out of my bag with my passport to show the FA and another chap was standing there with a duplicate of my boarding pass, same seat number, same FF number and his name certainly wasn't the same as mine! What is the point of so called security if this guy went through how many checks of his boarding pass and passport only to get on the aircraft! As it happened he took a seat four rows behind me!
Then at LHR the following day I was moved onto a slightly earlier UA flight that was going to the previous days flight but got cancelled. As a result our boarding passes had the previous days date and flight number on them! I questioned this at check-in and was told I'd be fine, I was skeptical but as the agent suggested I made it all the way onboard without being questioned once about the previous days date. Of course the UA RCC may have known as well as the gate of course but security didn't question it nor the staff at the London Lounge.
