I know when I asked about it from my FA from Smith Barney this is the answer he told me.
You get the pick the day and destination and they will automatically pick the cheapest routing and carrier for you. He told me Citibank largest partner and thier carrier of choice is AA and for the most part they will try to route you to your destination via AA if possible. He told me they will purchase a full unristricted first class ticket for you.
Even my FA told me he does not understand why Citi choose not to allow points to be redem into AA program as Smith Barney credit card allow you to redem points into AA. Smith Barney credit card can redem any reward from the TY network also. The only differnce in the program is you dont get flight points with Smith Barney Credit card like you do with PP Elite or Chairman card.
