Is there a website or place to find out the history behind a plane such as date it was sold, to whom, the date it first began service?

The plane I flew on last night looked brand new. It was also a flight with one of those 9xxx flight numbers. I was wondering if it wasn't being flown across the country to begin formal service but being used on certain routes on it's way.

The number on the side of the plane was N3768 (a Boeing 737-800).
