I asked my father who use to fly alot in the 1950s and 60s. He said that he never saw a "negro" flying on a commercial airline during that period.

Racial and economic diversity in air-travel is something that has occurred fairly recently. I remember my first trip on an airplane in the mid 60s and most people wore dresses and suits. 90% of the people were upper class. Today the people at the Greyhound Station are better dressed.

I think that is a great question. I know that most hotels would not allow blacks to stay until about 1960.
