Checking tickets for July 3rd JFK-LAX, returning on July 7th, the Biz Elite (D) cabin prices at $2,643. Even though this seems decent, I decide to pick the "Best Fares" option on the website since my schedules are flexible and I wouldn't mind saving a few dollars.
Next page, the best fares--$3,135, on the exact same flight. Wondering what was different, I looked closer and it turns out that the fare is for coach. An unrestricted "Y" fare, but still in COACH!!!

Air travel pricing will always remain a mystery to me.
