Two comments about the above:
1. If you have a *hyphenated* last name, you may want to call AGR to remove the dash. If you make a reservation through Amtrak.com, the reservation system can't handle hyphens and drops them (you type "Jane Doe-Smith", Amtrak tickets print "DOESMITH/JANE"). If the last name doesn't match *exactly*, AGR won't post your points (and you'll have to go through retroactive credit hell to get your points posted, my friend attests.)
2. AGR only matches the first character of the first name. Thus, "John Doe" and "James Doe" are the same person, as far as AGR is concerned, and the first name is not affected by the "hyphen" problem described above.
