I have no checked luggage, and for previous flights to Japan, I never swiped my passport (state side) at the kiosk before leaving, or showing it to a agent "1 hour before departure", only time I've shown my passport on previous flights was when boarding.

So when I saw:

"International Travelers are required to either swipe a passport at an airport kiosk or present it to an agent at least 1hr prior to departure"

printed below my boarding passes it confused me since it wasn't noted on my printouts from last year nor did I do any of that (state side).

Even though I'm already checked-in and have BP's printed, I still need to find a kiosk to swipe my passport or show it to the gate agent 1 hr before departure?
