i have a dvd player and when connected to a TV mine has a switch on the player that has to be switch to TV out
look to see if your has that switch
i have had it work in hotels one was at NEW YORK NEW YORK in vegas that had a hotel system on it with pay moives and hotel info. on channels check it at home and make sure your player has a signal coming out of it for your next trip
on the hotel TV if there is no tv /video button look to see it has a on screen menu that you can change ,try channel 3 or go through all channels up
but i have found that if the tv has audio/video inputs on the front it will work and it is something simple that has to be switched
check at home tv
