Lesson for US: Don't tempt the bear (PWM service)

Just noticed that JetBlue has announced a JFK-PWM service with four daily flights, which is more than enough competition for US Airways' LGA-PWM service. While this service had been rumored for a while, I would imagine its launch had something to do with US Airways' substantial price increase on the LGA-PWM route to match Delta's $300+ rt advance booking fares, a sudden increase from fares that used to be more in the $240 neighborhood.

So hopefully US management is taking note: if they're not willing to be the low-fare provider in a market, one of the real low-fare providers will gladly do it for them. Now US will likely have to drop prices back down at least somewhat to compete, and will still lose business to B6's better JFK connection options anyway. Oops.

(I know I'll certainly be taking leather seats and TV for my flights to visit the parents over beat-up Canadair junkers.)
