I just flew from YEG to CGN via YYZ/FRA. I got upgraded in advance from YYZ to FRA (as per SE status). I put a co-worker on the waitlist (no status). On the day of the flight, I was told that as of March 1, companions of Elite members will be prioritized on the waitlist by their own status and not by the status of the member upgrading them.

My co-worker got on, using my status, so he was upgraded after all of the SE's cleared, but next week it will be different as the new rule takes effect.

Anyone else heard this? Any comments or thoughts?
