Shop-Rite for onepass miles [2009 program changes][threads merged]
Hey, I was wondering if anyone else here has their Shop-Rite price plus number attached to their onepass account. I have been in the program since its inception have earned over 12,000 miles just from Shop-Rite. (It's the only supermarket I go to- and I am always grocery shopping!) While it's exciting to earn airline miles for buying what I would buy anyway- and I absolutely mean that. It's not like I think let me buy the bigger milk to earn more miles, or I think I'll splurge on a 25-ib. turkey for dinner in order to get to Florida quicker.
But, it's a bit disconcerting that I'm only half-way to a flight. I assume the program is mostly for very frequent fliers who get that little extra bump in their miles by- without even thinking about it - having their Shop-Rite club card attached to their account.
Does anyone know how successful and popular this program is? I assume it's pretty popular (probably more so in NJ, where Shop-Rites are ubiquitous and we all know CO is THE carrier at EWR) as it keeps on getting extended. Is Shop-Rite for OnePass miles here to stay? Does anyone have any stories on how much they earned with it and/or stories of extravagant Shop-Rite purchases in order to earn more miles?
