i stayed here for a week, jan. 10-17
i specifically chose ponce because the sun sets at least an hour later than in san juan (due the central mountain range and hotel buildings blocking the sun on the north coast while the south coast faces the setting sun over the ocean) AND the weather is drier, no rain, less humid
all i wanted to do was lie in the sun and bake these bones. took a lounge chair down on the beach (yes, dark grey sand) and listened to the surf
just what i expected
given that, all the other comments are true: the new executive building is great ( i was on an exec. floor, #4); lounge breakfasts are poor; lounge evening snacks are EXTREMELY poor (like they bought them in Costco)
but when i complained to the hotel manager, the next nights there were fresh yummy local snacks
i just would have the lunch buffet- fresh and tasty
the casino was small and smoky, i only went once for a few minutes
i would go back, but i'm not sure if i would take Cape Air again- i think it was a Beech 1900- and the pilot looked to be 19- and there is only one pilot
but the 25 minute air time was great!
