You can transfer Membership Rewards points to Mexicana and redeem for flights on American Airlines and many other carriers. This doesn't allow you to redeem for upgrades (typographical error in Mexicana's award table notwithstanding) nor to claim AAnytime awards for twice the mileage, but it does allow you to fly on American using MR points.
