Not the average one, but the more informed might. IMO, the bottomline is, other than meeting another FTer on the road randomly, there is not much of an upside to having the tags on my bad. Perhaps I'm anti-social, but when I'm traveling I prefer to do my own thing rather than get stuck talking to someone I don't know.
On the other hand, I might approach someone with a FT tag. The difference is it is on my terms not theirs.
Very, very few airline employes know anything about this place and that there are any flyers like us. I have discussed some things with FAs over the years and they wondered how I knew what I knew. And, I have enlightened them to stuff they didn't know either. I don't make a habit of this but it just comes up from time to time.
I don't talk much either but I do usually have a short conversation with my seatmate before takeoff. How short depends upon my mood and theirs.
Don't run into Mikey and try and talk to him, he despises seatmate talkers.
