They used to have a sandwich shop called the Grinder Factory on N. Lamar here in Austin. The guy who owned it used to be in the Navy stationed in Groton. I think he was a New Englander that just got tired of the weather back in CT. Anyway, his were the closest thing to the real thing I've ever had in Texas. His thing was that it was all about the bread. He had to end up cutting a deal for a local bakery to bake it to his specifications, and they did an admirable job.

Don't know if he is still in business or not, but he should be. His sandwiches were that good.
