I originally got my Corp card back in August/September, where I was charged $35 to link it to my personal Gold card. I have been receiving points since then. This week, I decided to upgrade to Platinum, and asked about the Corp card being linked for free, I was told yes it would be free and a prorated portion of the $35 would be refunded. Lo and behold, the day after I UPGRADE to Platinum, I get hit with the $75 annual fee for the corporate card and a $20 or so credit. So in essence, I think I actually got penalized for upgrading to Platinum. Does this seem right?

Yep. That sounds right. They gave you incorrect information because I received a letter from AMEX stating that it would cost $75 to link the corporate card. This began a few months ago which resulted in me cutting the card up and mailing it to AMEX.
