Before Ennis knows it, Jack is dead and Ennis' chance at happiness is gone forever. At last Ennis realizes that society's approval doesn't keep you warm on a cold night.

However difficult true love may be, if and when the opportunity does present itself, we owe it ourselves to take the chance.
