I always call. United.bomb is never able to issue award ticket if you're going on UA - lets say - to Europe and further on with a *A carrier. Like what everyone else says - thank the CR for his/her help and call again. Some reps have been really nice to me going out of their way finding various *A routings that meet my needs.
