I don't travel "on business" - I'm retired - but my notebook/cell phone are essential (for everything from checking the news - to paying bills or downloading portfolio information - to getting information about problems with elderly parents - even skilled nursing facilities use email these days!). Plus there's the camera charger - and I'm sure a lot of you have even more stuff. The power outlet thing drives me nuts. How many late afternoons (when I check in) have I spent crawling around on my hands and knees - sometimes moving furniture in the process - figuring out where to plug everything in! Curiously - some of the mid-range properties - like some Marriotts - have these tacky lamps with umpteen power outlets in them which allow you to plug in everything on the desk. 1-2-3 and everything's done.
As for wireless - I have only been at one property that proudly advertised "free wireless everywhere" (it was a Renaissance). The signal in my room didn't work without the aid of an "amplifier" (had to pay a $150 "refundable deposit" for it). And when I finally logged on - just about every security system on my notebook yelled at me that I was subjecting myself to the internet equivalent of "unsafe sex".
Regarding business centers - I do most of what I have to do in the early morning and late evening. Don't think I want to schlep down to a business center in my nightie. Robyn
