You'll find every major airline does this, not just AC. Fly BA non-stop to any international destination from the UK and you pay far more than flying via an intermediate European gateway of a competing airline. Fly AF from France and you'll pay more than flying BA via the UK. Or LH from Germany. All these carriers will undercut BA ex-UK, or any other competitor ex- those carriers' home markets.
