Clift Hotel is on the far western part of the city, and can be a long bus ride to typical places where first timers want to go.
ABSOLUTELY, TOTALLY INCORRECT!!! The Clift Hotel is at Geary and Taylor, just two blocks from Union Square, and very, very central. (Perhaps you were confusing the Clift Hotel with another landmark, the Cliff House, which IS on the western edge of the city, on the Pacific Ocean. However, the Cliff House is a restaurant, NOT a hotel.)
