big, big difference in my book. The person with the powder should be made to pay for his stupidity.
Sure, but I don't think there are any explicit rules against using certain "prohibited" words at a checkpoint; it's just common sense not to use those types of words intentionally, as it might be perceived as suspecious, especially if someone overhears only part of the conversation.

If you inadvertantly make a reference to the "blonde bombshell" or say "Hi" to your friend "Jack" as he joins you in the security line, you might have to explain yourself a bit but you're probably not in any real trouble. On the other hand, if you decide to try to and see what you can get away with by "cleverly" choosing words like that, I don't have much sympathy if they pull you aside for further questioning.

But this is really just a side issue. The point I was making about "no joking" at security checkpoints was along the lines of a friend of mine who was bringing a violin on the plane with him. When the screener asked him what was in the case, he replied, very sarcastically, "it's a machine gun, what do you think?". He was surprised and annoyed when the pulled him aside for lengthy questioning and a lecture about joking at the security checkpoint. That was pre-9/11; nowadays, they'd probably detain him overnight for being that stupid.
