The trick is with luggage. Don't attempt to short-check your luggage to HUB (as opposed to AAA). You'll need to carry it on.
A question for others to answer: should you check in for both segments (BBB-HUB and HUB-AAA), or just BBB-HUB (and can you even do that? You could just hand them the BBB-HUB flight coupon, but they'd see the other segment in the computer).
My sense is if you do this once, it's not that big a deal, although contrary to the fare rules. My sense is they're looking for repeat offenders.
Final word: find out whether HUB-AAA is oversold. Since you'll be in the HUB airport anyweay, maybe you can get bumped and get paid for not taking the flight you didn't want to take in any event. Efficient breach.
