It seemed the case that CX doesn't have the 'equipment' to run AVOD on most of their aircraft bar the 4 of the newer A333/330, 4 of the newer B773, 3 ex SQ A343, 2 ex-SQ B744 and the A346 all of which has an integrated handset crucial for the on demand function and the rest have the old Digital Passenger Control Unit. Secondly, AFAIK, the system and softwares installed doesn't allow for a AVOD function.

To refit the enrire fleet would costs a lot of money and down time.
