StudioCX - Now 50 Movies and 100 TV Shows
Press Release from CX:
Cathay Pacific Airways’ premium passengers are now enjoying a much wider selection of inflight viewing with up to 50 movies and more than 100 TV shows available on demand.
The expanded choice – almost 50 percent extra – for First and Business Class passengers is introduced this month, and follows the launch of the new StudioCX user interface in November last year. Chinese-language subtitles have also been added to more of the most popular programmes to make them accessible to a wider range of passengers.
Cathay Pacific’s often premieres new releases before they are screened in Hong Kong theatres. Right now, the only way anyone in Hong Kong can enjoy Oscar-nominated Walk the Line and Pride & Prejudice is on StudioCX on long-haul services from Hong Kong.
The inflight entertainment upgrade includes a number of additions and enhancements, including the introduction of a new movie category, “CX Choice”, which brings together award winning, critically acclaimed movies within retrospectives or other themes.
For February, in anticipation of the 2006 Oscars in early March, CX Choice will be highlighting 10 “must see” movies from the past decade under the theme of “Almost Oscars” – films that were good enough to win a Best Picture award but didn’t quite make it. Among the cult favourites on offer are Pulp Fiction, Shawshank Redemption, Fargo and The Usual Suspects.
A new TV category, “CX Hooked”, showcases some of the hottest, most talked about comedy, drama and reality TV shows. In the launch month there will be five consecutive episodes each of addictive series such as Donald Trump’s The Apprentice (an airline exclusive for CX), 24 and Lost.
The First and Business Class Entertainment Guide has also undergone a complete facelift. The aim is to create something that is less a traditional entertainment guide and more an attention-grabbing entertainment magazine. Editorial content has also been expanded, with a number of new sections, special sidebars and a variety of “fast facts” to spice up content.
Cathay Pacific Director Service Delivery Quince Chong said: “Inflight entertainment is an integral part our premium-class offering. Our latest improvements, with greatly enhanced viewing choice and some smart new features, is something that Cathay Pacific’s customers have come to expect from the airline of the year”.
