Air Tahiti Rescheduling victim
My wife and I spent 290,000 AA miles to fly ATN First Class, from Ord to LGA (on AA ), and from JFK to PPT to Sydney, returning via LAX back to Ord. We were supposed to leave Saturday April 29. I just happened to check my AA reservations which contained a warning that I was unable to view the reservation and to contact customer service. I found out that the flight from JFK to Sydney via PPT was now leaving Friday April 28, while our connection from Chicago to New York was leaving Saturday April 29. We would have gotten to NY to find out our flight had left the day before.
We complained to AA and Air Tahiti responded by returning us from PPT to LAX in Coach even though we had paid miles for First Class. It took 2 weeks for a wonderful supervisor from AA to get ATN to straighten out this mess. We ended up having to spend two more nights in Papeete in order to get back home in First Class. Even though there were first class seats available on the flight to LAX that would have allowed us to skip the extra days in PPT, ATN's response was "just because there are empty first class seats on that flight does not mean that we have to give them to you".
ATN does not seem to care about anyone's inconvenience for schedule changes. We are now having to pay for one extra night in Sydney and two extra nights in PPT for a total of about $1500.00. ATN would not do anything for us, and since AA has no control over ATN, there was nothing that they could do for us.
I would not count on getting anything from ATN.
