Your best bet is to check at your connecting airport (like CDG) and ask an agent at the transfer counter there.
That way, you can make sure your bag tag numbers are correctly in their system and often, they can tell you whether your bag is onboard or not (AF baggage handlers do have portable scanners on the tarmac)...
