I've had luck with KL reimbursing me for clearly documented and quantifiable damages resulting from delayed luggage, so perhaps your hotel night penalty will be reimbursed if you send a written claim.

I have no expertise on what additional compensation you could expect. My instinct is to ask for a variety of things that don't cost them much: more bonus miles, some free upgrades, etc.
