I'm afraid 'yes' is way too simple an answer. Student tickets booked in S class are bulk tickets sold at heavy discounts and are NOT upgradeable using miles. Certain certificates, usually issued to mishandled passengers or loyal travel agents, are upgradeable with any fare class. if the poster wants to use miles to upgrade from S class, the answer unfortunately is a big NO.
