US is an example of one of those airlines with crazy seating style. I think they have something one separate seating group for every row

I didn't realize they had so many groups. As another poster has pointed out, though, their system does seem more messed up than UA's. I remember a PHL-CLT evening 767 flight I flew. They called Group 1 and like 30 people got in line. I was Group 2 and when they called that, another big group got in line.
