It seems to me as though for intercontinental itineraries, the search engine tries as hard as possible to route you through Canada on AC (eg SFO-SIN or LAX-SIN with a routing via YVR and HKG, or FRA-SIN via YYZ and HKG--no routing on SQ or LH). On the other hand, it's relatively easy to get SQ on SIN-BKK, for example--a city pair impossible to sneak an AC sector into.
Maybe I'm missing something in this whole process.

You can specifically chose * awards on the advanced options- maybe this will make things better?
