I'd agree with the Asterisk@home thing... It doesnt go over well with the crusty geeks at #asterisk on FreeNode (IRC) but it does make it quite easy to get up and running.
My wife still has not warmed to Asterisk as we've had some issues with echo and feedback using our analog lines. However, SIP lines (A la vonnage... I use Broadvoice) work great. ... I really love the flexability of basically being my own phone company.
